The A Rift in Time expansion for Disney Dreamlight Valley introduces players to the mysterious landscapes of Eternity Isle, a region filled with unique obstacles and secrets. To overcome these barriers, Merlin tasks the player with a multi-step mission focused on upgrading their equipment to remove troublesome materials. The Village Project Timeless Tools quest serves as a critical milestone for expanding your accessibility and gathering rare resources across the isle.

Starting the Quest with Merlin

Before you can initiate this specific assignment, you must successfully complete the preceding mission titled Timeless Treasures. Once that objective is fulfilled, speaking to Merlin will trigger the next phase of his ongoing research into the island's strange anomalies. The wise wizard recognizes that your basic gear is simply insufficient for clearing away the advanced forms of debris blocking your path.

This particular quest requires players to craft five distinct royal tool upgrades rather than dealing with a single piece of equipment. These modifications are entirely permanent and automatically apply directly to your items upon completion. Reaching this point allows you to safely venture deeper into hidden zones across Eternity Isle.

Gathering Materials for Pickaxe Upgrades

The quest demands two separate upgrades for your pickaxe, each targeting different obstacles scattered across the biomes. To craft the Large Copper Rocks Pickaxe Potion, you need to collect 3,000 Mist, 1 Level 1 Ancient Core, and 40 pieces of Copper mined from Rock Spots in Ancients' Landing. This enchantment allows your character to break down massive copper impediments easily.

The second pickaxe modification is the Large Glass Stalagmite Upgrade, which opens up paths blocked by sharp crystalline structures. This recipe requires another 3,000 Mist and 1 Ancient Core, alongside 20 units of Oasis Glass gathered from the Glittering Dunes. Digging directly in the desert sand or shattering smaller glass fragments will yield this necessary material.

Upgrading the Shovel and Watering Can

Clearing out paths also requires modifying your digging and watering equipment to deal with unique flora and rubble. The Large Rubble Shovel Potion requires 3,000 Mist, 1 Ancient Core, and 20 Pearls, which are easily uncovered by digging anywhere within Ancients' Landing. Once applied, your shovel will successfully clear away heavy debris piles that previously blocked entryways.

To tackle overgrown vegetation, Merlin requires the creation of the Large Evil Plant Watering Can Potion. This formula uses 3,000 Mist, 1 Ancient Core, and 40 units of Tropical Wood foraged from the ground near trees in the Wild Tangle biome. Utilizing this upgraded watering can will dissolve the persistent, harmful plants spreading through the jungle areas.

Modifying the Hourglass and Completion

The final upgrade focuses on your magical device through the Large Swirling Sands Hourglass Potion recipe. This particular upgrade requires 3,000 Mist and 1 Level 1 Ancient Core to successfully enhance your time-bending capabilities. Amassing enough Mist can be achieved by clearing away swirling sand, removing splinters of fate, or finishing daily duties.

After gathering all the required components, head over to a Timebending Table to assemble the five individual items. Once every single potion has been fabricated, return to Merlin to officially complete the storyline. Finishing this quest grants full access to hidden zones needed for completing subsequent tasks for characters like Rapunzel and Gaston.
