The Tale of Rowland Oakes is an engaging side quest in Hogwarts Legacy that tests your investigative skills and combat abilities. Triggered after finishing The Helm of Urtkot main quest, this journey begins by speaking with Adelaide Oakes in the Transfiguration Courtyard. She expresses deep concern for her uncle's safety, prompting players to investigate his last known whereabouts.

Investigating the Overrun Campsite

Your search starts at Rowland Oakes' campsite situated northwest of Hogwarts near the Forbidden Forest. Upon arrival, you will find the area occupied by aggressive goblins that must be defeated. Once the threat is cleared, search the camp to gather key clues including Rowland's journal and a hand-drawn map.

Deciphering Rowland's Map

The hand-drawn map provides visual landmarks leading to the Korrow Ruins located further west along the river. Players can use their broom to navigate directly to the goblin outpost marked on the map. Clearing the exterior entrance allows safe passage inside the ruined fortress where Rowland is held captive.

Infiltrating Korrow Ruins and Locating Rowland

Inside the dungeon, battle through groups of loyalist goblins until you locate Rowland locked behind a heavy cell door. He informs you that he cannot escape without his wand, which is stored deeper within the stronghold. Navigate through the main chamber to locate the mechanism needed to access the storage room.

Retrieving the Wand and Completing the Quest

To unlock the inner chamber, head to the upper level, ignite the boiler with a fire spell, and open the heavy furnace door. Eliminate the remaining guards inside the north room and collect Rowland's wand from the table. Return the wand to Rowland at his cell to free him and successfully complete the quest.
